The Conference Board of Canada and the Future Skills Centre are excited to launch a free online tool designed to help job placement professionals, job seekers and employers quickly and easily explore viable career transition pathways.

Join Conference Board CEO Susan Black, Vice President Michael Burt and Future Skills Centre’s Executive Director, Pedro Barata, alongside guests as they reveal this innovative new tool that will:

  • Help job seekers identify new career paths related to their skillsets
  • Help employers identify potential candidates to fill open positions
  • Help job placement organizations match employers and job seekers
  • Use research and big data to help solve one of today’s tough challenges

Susan Black

Chief Executive Officer, The Conference Board of Canada

Susan Black joined the Conference Board of Canada in 2018 as its Chief Executive Officer with a mandate to elevate and advance Canada’s leading independent applied research organization. Under her leadership CBoC has focused on researching solutions to the wicked problems Canada’s leaders face as they grapple with challenges across nine areas—education and skills, health, sustainability, diversity and inclusion, immigration, Indigenous and Northern communities, innovation, the economy, and human capital. She is ardent in her commitment to deliver CBoC’s apolitical rigorous research insights to Canadians in ways that are accessible and plain spoken.

Micheal Burt

Vice President, The Conference Board of Canada

Michael Burt leads several knowledge areas including industrial analysis, education, energy, innovation and security. In his role, Michael oversees the convening and research activities undertaken by these knowledge centres. He provides presentations on a variety of topics to clients and the public and is often cited in the media.

Pedro Barata

Executive Director, Future Skills Centre

Known for his strategic leadership, an active voice on social policy, and a commitment to community building, Pedro Barata’s career and extensive volunteer work in the non-profit sector spans two decades. As the Executive Director of the Future Skills Centre, Barata works with the key project partners to realize the Centre’s mandate and objectives: to build a network of key partners and stakeholders, lead and invest in cutting-edge research, test and evaluate innovative projects, and ensure that knowledge is shared and acted on.
