Business Succession using International Investment

Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. ET

Enhancing newcomer economic success for their benefit and Canada’s.

We continue the discussion from our Canadian Immigration Virtual Summit with sponsor Fragomen Worldwide – looking at the Provincial Nominee Program’s Entrepreneurial Stream and how this very important immigration path can be used to speed up Canada's economic recovery.

Banks have tightened their lending requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals seeking a loan to purchase an existing business are having difficulty securing capital. Business owners looking to sell their business to a new owner are seeing the impact.

One solution to this interruption in business succession are immigrant entrepreneurs that are entering Canada through the Provincial Nominee Programs’ Entrepreneurial Stream. Immigrants using this path to settle in Canada are required to make a substantial cash investment through the program to purchase a business. This makes international buyers an attractive and viable option for many business owners looking to transition their business to new owners.

Join us as we walk you through an analysis of the different provincial nominee programs across Canada to see if your business is a good fit. You will learn about recent immigration trends across Canada, get the latest data on business succession and learn how you can avoid common obstacles.

During this one-hour session, Cosmina Morariu, Senior Manager/Lawyer, Fragomen Worldwide, and Alison Anderson, CEO & Founder, SuccessionMatching will:

  • Provide an overview of the different provincial nominee programs across Canada
  • Review international data for source countries
  • Look at real-time data on business succession
  • Identify gaps between Canada’s immigration efforts & existing solutions for business communities
  • Advise where to find resources
  • Discuss how to prepare your business for a transition through a provincial nominee program.
